Pom Klementieff

Pom Klementieff, a French actress was born on 3 May 1986. She attended the Cours Florent drama school, Paris. She has been in films like Loup 2009, Sleepless Night 2011 and Hacker's Game 2015. She portrays the role of Mantis, in the Marvel Cinematic Universe films Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 (2017), Avengers: Infinity War (2018), and Avengers: Endgame (1999). Pom Klementieff was the daughter of two parents: a Korean mother, as well as an American-Russian father. Her father was consul in Quebec City, Canada. Her father was a painter Eugene Klementieff. Her parents picked the name "Pom" because it is like the Korean words for "spring" and "tiger". Klementieff resided in Canada for a short time before her family went on a long trip because of her father's work. After moving to France she lived in Japan. Klementieff's father, who died from cancer at age 5 was also her mother. Also, she was suffering from schizophrenia , and could not care for her kids. Klementieff was raised with her paternal uncle and aunt. Her uncle, whom she stated in her own words as "like [her] first father," died on Klementieff’s 18th birthday. The older brother of her was killed seven years later. The second time, it was on the 25th anniversary of her birth. Klementieff was able to go to law school following the death of her uncle, however she didn't find this career path appealing. She was also a waitress and saleswoman in France. Her first acting experience was at age 19 at the Cours Florent drama school in Paris. Within a couple of months of her education, she was awarded an acting competition which awarded her classes for two years at the school's most prestigious teachers. The first time she was professionally acting was the French independent film Apres lui (2007), playing the stepdaughter to the protagonist played by Catherine Deneuve. The shooting of the scenes took three days. One scene saw Klementieff pushing a person down a set of steps, but she fell. Gael Morel saved that scene for the final film. Loup (2009) was her debut film with a leading role. It's a French movie that tells the story of a tribe of Siberian mountain reindeer herders. While filming, Klementieff was in a camping area, which was hours away from the nearest village where temperatures dropped well below zero.
