Amy Carlson
Amy Carlson was born in Glen Ellyn in
Illinois and spent her childhood in Chicago. Amy was a resident of Glen Ellyn
Illinois, right up to the time she entered junior college. There, her family
also lived in Middle East, where her parents, Bob (and Barb) taught at American
School. Amy is the youngest of three siblings: sisters Betsy and Lori and Joe,
the brother. Joe. Amy has travelled all over Europe on her own as well as
together with her family. They both worked as teachers and were able to travel
and camp together each summer as a result of this. They've camped in every
state, with the exception of Alaska. Amy was sent to Rwanda to assist in
efforts to aid in the aftermath of the 1994 war. Early on, Amy showed artistic
talent acting in school productions as well as winning contests to write. In
high school she was a promising athlete who placed in the very first 3200 meter
relay in Illinois girls track. After suffering an injury, Amy returned to
theater and play many roles such as Lanford Wilson's "Fifth of July"
and Wallace Shawn's directorial "Aunt Dan and Lemon". Amy attended
Knox College in Galesburg, Illinois and graduated cum laude with the degree of
B.A. East Asian history with a specialization in Theater. She moved to Chicago
following graduation and began studying Improv at the Improv Olympic, and
performed in the theater at The Actor's Center. Shortly after graduation she
was offered a contract job as an actress on the soap opera Another World
(1964). In the category of "Outstanding supporting actress in the Daytime
Drama Series", she was nominated for Daytime Emmy Awards. Her most
memorable roles include of strong women, such as Alex Taylor in Third Watch
(1999), Maggie Pistone in Falcone (2000), Katie Owen alongside Tom Berenger in
Peacemakers (2003) and Linda Reagan in Blue Bloods. Carlson is currently living
in New York City together with Syd Butler (bassist of Les Savy Fav), and is
owner of Frenchkiss Records. Amy continues to pursue various and distinctive
role in the field of film.
