ALEX MORGAN BIO

Morgan was born on July 2, 1989 (Alex Morgan age: 30) to Pamela and Michael Morgan. She was raised by her parents in Diamond Bar, Los Angeles. Morgan played a variety of sports throughout her childhood , but did not favor soccer until she was 14. Morgan joined the Cypress Elite club team and came first in the Coast Soccer League under-16 championship. She also placed third place in the bracket for under-19 players. Morgan continued to hone her skills in soccer in Diamond Bar High School. National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA), selected Morgan as an All-American Athlete. She also participated in the Olympic Development Program's state and regional divisions. Morgan continued her soccer career at UC Berkeley. She led the California Golden Bears team's scoring in her first season. She assisted in taking the team to the NCAA Tournament all four years and twice to the second round. Morgan was one of four finalist for the Honda Sports Award. This made her the first Hermann Trophy finalists to be placed as the top player on the list. Morgan completed her studies in 2010 with the third highest amount of points and goals for Berkeley. Morgan was a soccer player at both the collegiate as well as national levels throughout her education. Morgan was injured in her ACL in her very first year as an Berkeley player. She was not able to train with the U.S. Under-20 Women's Soccer team until April 2008. The following season, she scored her first international goal at the CONCACAF Women's U-20 Championship in Mexico. Morgan was also a part-time player in the 2008 FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup. She scored four goals, which earned her team a gold medal. One of them was a win over Italy that secured the U.S. team the final place at the 2011 World Cup. Morgan was the youngest player of the team and he led the team to victory against France. Morgan, despite U.S. losing to Japan in the final World Cup match, became the first American player to score both a goal or assist.
