Jennifer Coolidge Bio

Jennifer Coolidge, a versatile actress who plays a variety of characters as well as an experimental comedian. She is most well-known for her performance as the mother of Stifler in American Pie (1999). Born August 28, 1961 in Boston, Massachusetts to Gretchen (Knauff) who was a plastics manufacturer as well as Paul Constant Coolidge on August 28 the 28th of August, 1962. Young Coolidge dreamed of being an actor. She was a student at Norwell High School and Emerson College in Boston, Massachusetts, and obtained her bachelor's degree from theatre in 1985. Then, she moved to New York and joined the Gotham City improv group. Then, she headed to Los Angeles where she became an ongoing part of "The Groundlings" comedy troupe. Coolidge made her television debut as a guest on the NBC series Seinfeld (1989) as an edgy masseuse who refuses to offer her professional services to her boyfriend Jerry in an episode from 1993. She was a regular character on the ABC sketch show She TV (1994), and then briefly joined Fox's Saturday Night Special (1996), where she was an actor and writer. Coolidge made her screen debut in the big screen as a nurse in Not of This Earth (1995) followed by the courtroom comedy Trial and Error (1997). In the following years, she played small roles in several more feature filmsand continued to work on television. Coolidge was the lead character in American Pie (1999), as a booze-drunk and sultry mother who is able to seduce her son's classmate using the comment that she liked her scotch and males exactly the same way as she did when she was 18 years. She recreated the character in the sequel American Pie 2 (2001). Then she reprised her role with Reese Witherspoon as "Paulette" in "Legally Blonde". Although, she lost the part in "Lynette Scavo" on Desperate Housewives (2004) to Felicity Huffman Coolidge was a regular on a variety of TV comedy shows as making guest appearances on Frasier (1993) and Sex and the City (1998). In the following year, she was offered her first recurring role on the ABC sitcom Joey (2004) in the role of "Bobbie Morgenstern", Joey's agent, being featured in 37 episodes over two seasons.
